Tips To Speed Up Your Computer

There are many things that you can do yourself to speed up your computer.  I will briefly cover several tips, software programs, etc. that will help you keep you computer running as fast as possible.  After trying these tips if you are still experiencing issues we can come to you and help with any type of computer problem.  We cover Waco, TX and all of the surrounding areas at Whitney PC Repair.  You can reach us at 254-716-6497.

1. Keep your temporary files and internet cache clean.  There is a free software that works great for this called CCleaner.  You can download the program for free at: http://download.cnet.com/CCleaner/
2. Scan for and remove any malware that is on your computer.  Malwarebytes is a free program that works excellent for malware removal.  Download it at http://www.malwarebytes.org
3. Remove any unused software.  You can go to your control panel and then find add/remove programs.  From here you will be able to uninstall any programs that you no longer use.
4. Scan for viruses and remove anything found.  A great free antivirus program is AVG.  download it at http://free.avg.com
5. In Windows vista and higher you can use a USB thumb drive as extra RAM (Memory) by activating READY BOOST.  To do this go into computer then right click on your usb drive and left click on properties.  then click the ready boost tab and configure your Ready boost settings.
